Are You Ready to Transform Your Songwriting?

Leverage the Power of Storytelling to Make Your Songs More Impactful

Imagine writing songs you feel truly proud of. Songs that resonate. Songs that make your listeners care about your message. Whether you're a budding songwriter or an experienced musician looking to enhance your craft, this workshop is your opportunity to learn my unique approach to writing songs, which differs greatly from popular advice on the internet as well as the approaches of other well-known songwriters.

Learn the things I always do as well as the things I never do when writing. Also learn some mistakes I’ve made in the past and what I do differently now.

Conquer Common Songwriting Challenges

Do you struggle with:

Facing a blank page, not knowing where to start?

Wanting to write lyrics that don’t sound like clichés or old tropes?

Finding your unique voice without being overly derivative?

Don’t worry. I got you.

Why Learn from Me?

My Madison Roots:

My connection to Madison, WI, is deep-rooted, yet my songs and musical path have taken me on beautiful adventures across the country.

Though I’m not from there, I lived in Madison for a long time.

You might remember me as a bluegrass bass player on Tuesday nights at The Up North, Wonder’s Pub, or as a songwriter playing in various bands.

Credentials/Success from Songs:

Learn the methods that have landed me gigs nationwide, performing with legends like Tony Rice and the Del McCoury Band, and collaborating with bands like The Steel Wheels. My songs have earned me the title of "Best Country/Bluegrass Performer" at the Madison Area Music Awards, given me the opportunity to record at Smart Studios, and allowed me to play at prestigious venues such as Sugar Maple, Stoughton Opera House, and Bristol Rhythm + Roots Reunion. I've also made live appearances on various NPR affliates and community radio stations across the country, received national and international acclaim for my songs, and drawn comparisons in the press to my idols, Emmylou Harris and Gillian Welch.

I’m not telling you this stuff to brag about my career or sound like an a-hole, but to illustrate the point that songs can open some incredible doors of opportunity for you if you are willing to take risks.

Why I Care About Teaching You What I Know:

Following my instinct to start writing songs has led me to the most magical parts of my life’s path, and given me some of my sweetest memories. I want your life to be filled with magic, too.

Also, I have a vested interested in living in a world where passionate people live purposeful lives following what they feel “called” to do. I’ve noticed that people following their callings in life are the most fulfilled and kind people I’ve come across. They’re natural uplifters. I prefer to live in a world where people are inspired, and feel alive, and make a positive impact on the world around them.
